Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)

A Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a unique number generated by GRA for persons including corporate entities upon application.

The GRA as part of its operational standards pledges to generate the number within 48 hours upon application accompanied with a valid national identification number such as Driver’s license, Passport, Voter’s ID.

The benefits of the TIN are very numerous for holders as it is impossible to perform the following transactions within the TIN among others:

 To process a passport at the passport office.

 To process land at the Lands Commission.

 To transact business with the Registrar General’s Department.

 To secure contracts from governments.

 To secure payments from governments e.g. Controller and Accountant General Department.

 To clear goods from any port or factory.

 To file a case in courts.

 To renew practicing license.

The TIN is free. No payment to obtain the TIN.

Report any person who demands payment to process the TAXPAYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER for you.
